The Iowa State Police Association - FAQ

FAQ

Q How do I become a member of the Iowa State Police Association?
A

Any full time peace officer from a municipal police department, Iowa Department of Public Safety or the Iowa DOT Law Enforcement Division is eligible for membership in the ISPA.  An annual fee of $30 for active members, and $20 for retired members, is all that is needed to become a part of Iowa's largest association of law enforcement professionals. A membership application will need to be completed and sent to the ISPA business office.

Q Where do I mail my annual dues?
A

Your annual dues shall be mailed to Sec/Treasurer Rick Host - P.O. Box 1615 - Des Moines, IA 50306

Q How many law enforcement members do you represent?
A

The Iowa State Police Association represents over 3,100 state and municipal law enforcement officers in the State of Iowa.

Q Does the Iowa State Police Association call businesses and individuals soliciting donations?
A

Yes. The Iowa State Police Association has for many years conducted a sponsor program in which the public is contacted by telephone and invited to help support our organization through a small financial contribution.  This project is conducted on the association's behalf by a professional fundraiser, one whose services we have used for several years. The activity is duly registered with the Iowa Attorney General’s office.  We have chosen to work with a professional organization because, especially in the current economy, such an undertaking is a large and costly effort, something well beyond our resources in time, facilities, equipment and staff.

Q I own/represent a business and want to know how to become a vendor at your next conference.
A

Vendor requests for the ISPA Conferences should go to the current year's president of the Iowa State Police Association. You can find the president's contact information under the "Executive Board" tab.

Q Is the Iowa State Police Association a law enforcement agency?
A

No. The Iowa State Police Association only represents state and municipal law enforcement officers. The Iowa State Police Association does not provide any law enforcment services. Contact your local law enforcement agency for issues requiring police assistance.
