2019 IOWA LAW ENFORCEMENT LEGISLATIVE DAY

2019 IOWA LAW ENFORCEMENT LEGISLATIVE DAY

01/23/2019

Iowa Law Enforcement Legislative Day

The Law Enforcement Legislative Day, organized by the Iowa State Police Association (ISPA), will take place on Wednesday March 6, 2019 08:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the State Capital in Des Moines, Iowa.

We would like to invite the legislative body to come meet with Iowa Law Enforcement Associations and leaders for a meaningful dialogue to better understand what officers are facing.  To better understand how legislative decisions and issues impact the safety of our officers and the public.

  • Law Enforcement groups will be available to answer questions.
  • Body cameras and TASER devices will be on display and a representative from Axon will be available to answer questions.
  • National Blue Alert information
  • MILO use of force simulator

The Iowa State Patrol has graciously allowed the use of their MILO use of force simulator located at the DPS building, which is just a few blocks away.  We would encourage everyone to take a few minutes out of their busy day to go through a short 5-10 minute scenario on the MILO machine.  These scenarios attempt to simulate some of the split second decisions officers have to make.  It also allows for multiple outcomes based on the actions of the participate.  Transportation to the DPS building will be available.
