Arnold Edwin Siedelmann, 85, Lady Lake, FL., formerly of Ames, passed from this life Wednesday, April 9, 2014.

Arnold Edwin Siedelmann, 85, Lady Lake, FL. passed from this life Wednesday, April 9, 2014. Born in Exira, IA, he resided in retirement in Lady Lake, FL with his wife Florence. Arnold and Florence were long time members of the First United Methodist Church in Ames, IA.

Arnold served in the United States Navy and then worked with his older brother in construction before joining the Ames Police Department as a patrolman. He quickly advanced to Chief of Police in Ames. During his time as Chief, he attended the FBI Academy at Quantico, VA, in the first class, with graduation celebrated in the East Room of the White House under President Nixon. Upon retirement from the Ames Police Department, Arnold worked as a Deputy U.S. Marshall at the Federal Courthouse in Des Moines, IA.

Arnold is survived by his wife Florence; daughters Cynthia and Lori; grandchildren Jennifer, Sara, Jonathan, Matthew and Mark; and great grandchildren Alex, Hayleigh and Lydia. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
