Lester L. Platt, 90, of Davenport, passed away on Friday, Aug. 29, 2014. Funeral services will be noon Wednesday, Sept. 3, in The Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport.

 Lester L. Platt, 90, of Davenport, passed away on Friday, Aug. 29, 2014. Funeral services will be noon Wednesday, Sept. 3, in The Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Our Savior’s Kvindherred Cemetery, Calamus, Iowa.

Lester was born Nov. 30, 1923, in rural Calamus, the son of John and Bertha (Olson) Platt. He was united in marriage to Clara Voss on Dec. 7, 1956, in Davenport.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific.

Lester retired from the Davenport Police Department after 31 years of service. Gardening, fishing, watching football and baseball with his grandson, Brandon, were some of his favorite things to do.

He is survived by his loving wife, Clara of 58 years; children, Lyle (Lisa) Wiggins and Deborah Allchin; and grandson, Brandon Wiggins.

Lester is preceded by his parents; and three brothers, Orville, Merlin and Emerson.
