Tony grew up in Iowa City and attended Iowa City West where he excelled in football and wrestling. Following graduation, Tony continued his education and athletic career which ended at Simpson College earning a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, and later the University of Cincinnati where he earned his Master's of Science Degree.

Tony began his law enforcement career in 2001 when he took the oath to protect and serve with the Indianola Police Department. In 2005, Tony transferred to Des Moines and was currently serving as one of the Des Moines Police Department's finest. He took a leadership role when he achieved the rank of Sergeant. Tony also served in many areas of the department including the Metro S.T.A.R. Team. Tony was a humble man who was honored and dedicated to protect and serve the community. He also spent time as a school resource officer (SRO) at local schools, and was loved and respected by his brothers and sisters in blue.

Tony was also a devoted husband to his wife, Zoe, and wonderful father to his three children, Cameron, Haley, and Maddox. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Iowa Hawkeyes fan, and enjoyed deer hunting and riding his Harley Davidson. Most of all, Tony treasured time spent with Zoe, attending his children's athletic events, and being together as a family.
