Leroy E. Orth, 81, of Barronett, WI died Monday, December 18, 2017 at Cumberland Healthcare. He was born February 12, 1936 in Bremer County, IA to Erwin and Beatrice (Jerry) Orth and graduated from West High School in Waterloo in 1954. He served with the US Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict, and was honorably discharged after 3 years in 1957. To complete the year, LeRoy was married in Preston, MN on December 7, 1957 to Dorothy Hugh. LeRoy began his career in law enforcement with the Waterloo, IA P.D. from 1961-1968. From there, he earned a position with the Davenport branch of the Iowa State Patrol from 1968 - 1992 where he was in charge of the swat team and retired as Sergeant. While a State Patrolman, LeRoy acted as security detail at the Iowa Caucus for the campaigns of George H. W. Bush, Rosalynn Carter and Jerry Brown.

After retirement, he and Dorothy moved to Barronett, and he served as Bailiff for Barron Country from 1994 - 1996, served as fire watch for the Timberland fire tower in 1996, was past church council president for Barronett Lutheran Church, was currently serving on church council, and had also served on the Town of Lakeland board of supervisors.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Orth of Barronett; children: Kelli Orth of Goodyear, AZ and Michael (Deborah) Orth of Davenport, IA; 3 grandchildren: Lillie, Conner and Emily of Goodyear, AZ; his siblings: George (Bonnie) Orth of Waterloo, IA and Geri (Mel) Pittman of Barronett; his sister-in-law, Marilyn Orth of Fort Collins, CO; his beloved cat, Trixie; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark Orth and brother, John Orth.

A memorial service will be held June 8, 2018 at 11:00 am at Barronett Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church.
