Hiring Bonus for Currently Certified Police Officers: $10,000 hiring bonus to any certified peace officer who successfully completed the hiring process, accepts a position with the City, and whose certification is from the State of Iowa or a state that the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy recognizes and has a reciprocal agreement with. Lateral Transfer: New employees, who at the time of hire, are currently certified law enforcement officers and have appropriate sworn experience as stated below are eligible for lateral transfer if they meet the following conditions: Effective July 1, 2024: •Completion of 2-4 years of service shall be paid at Step 3: $32.95/HR •Completion of 4-5 years of service shall be paid at Step 4: $35.80/HR •Completion of 5 or more years of service shall be paid at Step 5: $38.46/HR Benefits: Defined benefit pension plan – MFPRSI, excellent health coverage, employer paid dental and vision insurance premiums, Post Employment Health Plan (PEHP), excellent vacation and sick leave, 11 paid holidays, $50,000 employer-paid basic life insurance policy, uniform allowance, overtime opportunities, and so much more! Responsibilities: The work of this class involves responsibility for the protection of life and property, prevention of crime, apprehension of criminals and the general enforcement of laws and ordinates in a designated area or an assigned shift or on special assignments.
