IOWA STATE POLICE ASSOCIATION

OFFICER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The ISPA Officer Assistance Program was created in 2018 to help provide temporary financial aid to our members during their time of need.

ISPA Members in good standing at the time of the incident/injury may request financial assistance for reasons which may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Expenses associated with a debilitating illness or injury to a member, spouse, or their dependent children
  • Assistance with medical expenses not covered by health insurance to include: travel, lodging, meals, parking, etc
  • Disaster relief, such as needed in the aftermath of a tornado, house fire, flood, etc
  • Other catastrophic circumstances where the member had no means or remedy

All applicants must demonstrate the need for assistance by completing the online or downloadable application. Please submit all applications to ispaonline@gmail.com, subject line “Officer Assistance Program.”

Applicants are eligible to receive up to $1,250 of financial assistance from this program in a twelve (12) month period, collectively. (Example- $700 member, $400 spouse and $150 child or $1,250 member)

Applications may be submitted by the member in need of assistance, by a referral from another member, or a member’s co-worker. Applications must be submitted within 12 months of the incident/injury.

The ISPA Officer Assistance Program is not intended to be recurring in nature nor an income replacement. It is not intended to be a death benefit. The resources within the Officer Assistance Program are limited and the Officer Assistance Program Committee reserves the right to make changes as needed.

Applications will remain confidential and will be reviewed by the Officer Assistance Program Committee.  The committee may contact the person(s) submitting the application if additional information is needed.
