MARIAN JENSEN, RTC'S "CAKE LADY" WILL BE MISSED

Marian Jensen

Marian Jensen, 102, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Bickford of Fort Dodge Assisted Living. Services will be 11:00 AM on Friday, February 22, 2019, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge with Pastor Len Halverson officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Humboldt. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.

Marian is survived by her sister Helen Magennis of Fort Dodge and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Leonard, Edwin, Elmer and Harvey and her sister Edna Moore.

Marian Jensen, the daughter of Jens M. and Sene Jensen, was born July 3, 1916 in Estherville, Iowa. She later moved to Livermore and graduated from Livermore High School. After high school she attended Tobin Business College. She moved to Gilmore City and in 1944 moved to Fort Dodge. Marian worked for Fort Dodge Labs as a bookkeeper in accounts receivable for 37 year retiring in 1981. She also worked part time at Fantles Department Store in Fort Dodge.

Marian baked all the cakes for birthdays and other special celebrations for all the boys at the Rabiners Boys Ranch. She always said, she wouldn’t have amounted to a hill of beans without her nieces and nephews spurring her to make all their birthday, confirmation, graduation and wedding cakes. Marian also taught cake decorating at ICCC and loved oil painting and china painting. She loved to garden and was a Master Gardener.

Marian was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and volunteered at St. Olaf and the Salvation Army.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Olaf Lutheran Church.
