Richard "Dick" Roemer, 77, of Windsor Heights died Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Mercy West Lake Hospital, West Des Moines. 

Richard "Dick" Roemer, 77, of Windsor Heights died Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Mercy West Lake Hospital, West Des Moines. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 17 at Tifereth Israel Synagouge. Burial will follow at Jewish Glendale Cemetery.

Dick was born in Utica, NY on September 25, 1936 to Harry and Florence (Delvecchio) Roemer and lived in Des Moines most of his life. He worked for 35 years as an officer with the Des Moines Police Department retiring in 1994. He served for over ten years with the Iowa National Guard. He was a member of Acanthus Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Bodies and the Za Ga Zig Shrine. As an avid model railroader he belonged to the Central Iowa Railroad Club and owned Chu Chu Video.

Dick loved spending time with his family. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 53 years, Sheila (Bloom) Roemer of Windsor Heights; son, Mark Roemer of Minneapolis, MN; and brothers, Thomas (Sandy) and William (Holly) Roemer. He was preceded in death by parents, Harry Roemer and Florence Roemer Bennis; and step father, Bob Bennis.
