Dan Dusenbery passed into eternal life on Sunday, March 29, 2015, after a brief illness.

Dan Dusenbery passed into eternal life on Sunday, March 29, 2015, after a brief illness. He was born April 25, 1950 and was a life-long citizen of Des Moines. A graduate of Des Moines Tech high school, he attended Wartburg College, then the DM Police Academy. He retired as a senior police officer on May 1, 2010 after 39 years of service. During retirement Dan enjoyed time at the HLC YMCA, the company of family and friends, and volunteering at his church. He also established the DMPD AED fund to place automatic electronic defibrillators in every DM Police car.

Dan is survived by his wife, Chris, daughter, Lyssa (Kurt) Hoffmann, daughter Jacki (Barry) Graham, and son, Brian, his sister, Victoria Carver, and his grandchildren, Jakob & Abrielle Hoffmann, and Liam, Luke and Owen Graham, as well as many nieces and nephews. 

Services will be held Thursday, April 2 at 2:00 pm at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Des Moines. Visitation is planned for Wednesday, April 1, 5-8 pm at Westover Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the DMPD AED Fund or St. Johns Lutheran Church.
