James Boyd Arnold, 75, of Mason City, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

MASON CITY | James Boyd Arnold, 75, of Mason City, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

Per Jim’s request, his body was cremated and has requested no services. Inurnment will take place at a later date.

Memorials may be directed to the Jim Arnold Memorial Fund.

Jim was born March 16, 1940, in Mason City, the son of A. Boyd and Lucille (Saenger) Arnold.

He graduated from Mason City High School.

Jim married Marilyn Marshall May 13, 1961, in Mason City.

Jim worked for Al & Dick’s Wrecker Service and the city of Mason City as a meter man. On May 11, 1972, Jim began working as a police officer for the city of Mason City. After 26 years of service, he retired in September of 1994.

Jim worked many odd jobs to help care for his family and special needs daughter, Tina.

Jim is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marilyn of Mason City; four daughters, Tammy (Phil) Pardun of Mason City, Tracy (Danny) Shackleton of Plymouth, Tina Arnold of Waterloo and Julie Black of Mason City; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Kathleen, Dorothy, Marilyn, Shirley, Jackie and Mary; twin brother, Pete; sister-in-law, Marlys (Chuck) Pemble; brothers-in-law, Merle (Beverly) Marshall and Mike Marshall; special friends, Linda and Mearle Rasmusson, Tom Stalker and canine friend Brystol, who was more Jim’s dog than Tom’s, and Nancy Sims; many nieces, nephews and too many more friends to mention.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Peggy; father and mother in-law, Bob and Luella Marshall and good friend, Bill Swanson.
