RICHARD EVELAND

Richard Dale Eveland, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 1, 2017.

Born and raised in Des Moines, Richard proudly served as Sergeant for the Des Moines Police Department for 30 years before retiring. Prior to, he was a member of the U.S. Army. After retirement, he enjoyed riding horses and spending time with his grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory include his wife of 63 years: Gladys; children: Greg (Marcia) Eveland, Sandy Wagner, and Kathy Eveland; grandchildren: Nathan (Carleen), Nick (Jenny), Morgan, McKenzie, Madison, Megan, Dillon, and Jakob; great-grandchildren: Lexi and Ali; brother: Jerry (Lou) Eveland; and brother-in-law Russ Allison. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings: Don (Rose) Eveland and GG Allison.

A Celebration of Life service will take place at 1:00 PM, Monday October 9, 2017 at Brooks South Town Chapel: 7601 Fleur Dr., Des Moines. A visitation will take place 2 hours prior to the service, also at the chapel. Interment will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Garden Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Des Moines.
