May 8, 1943 - July 11, 2018

Bob Reaney, 75, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018. A funeral service will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines on Monday, July 16, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. Family will greet friends two hours prior to the service. Graveside interment of cremated remains will be held at a later date.

Bob was born May 8, 1943, in Grand Island, Nebraska to Max and Shirley Reaney. He came to West Des Moines when he was in high school, where he met his wife, Linda (Anderson). They were married in 1963.

He served with the Des Moines Police Department for 22 years and retired as a Senior Police Officer in 1990. 

He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church, Des Moines Police Burial Association, and the Iron Warriors Motorcycle Club.

He loved hunting and fishing and riding his motorcycle. He also enjoyed woodworking and enjoying his dogs. Bob and Linda looked forward to taking cross country motorcycle trips, traveling with their camper, and spending winters in Texas and summers in Minnesota, where they made many good friends.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters, Jill Reaney and Joy (Jeff) Neville; son, Scott Reaney; sister, Mary Loften; step-mother, Jean Reaney; step-sisters, Tammy (Gerry) Buffington and Deb Asbe; step-brother, Bill (Shelly) Lange; grandsons, Jack, Devin and Parker Neville; granddaughter, Abagail Reaney; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be directed to New Hope United Methodist Church, Public Safety Officers Welfare Fund, or Des Moines Police Officers Burial Fund.
