Steve passed away on April 12 at the age of 70. He graduated from Des Moines North High School. Steve was a multi sport athlete and avid sports fan.
Steve served honorably as a Senior Police Officer with the Des Moines Police Department for 31 years.
Steve had a great sense of humor, and could tell stories that would bring laughter to everyone.
Steve is survived by his wife Deborah Leighter, son Chris and family, brother Neil (Rhonda) Leighter, nephew Scott Leighter, nieces Sherri ODonnell, and Lisa Allard Carnes.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents Neil Sr. and Josephine, sister JoAnn Wooldridge, nephews Jeff Allard, and Jamie Allard.
