Michael E. McMahon was born November 2, 1950 in Sioux City, Iowa to Vincent and Maxine McMahon.  He was raised in Sioux City and graduated from Bishop Heelan High School.  Mike joined the U.S. Navy and was a Munitions Expert.

He was united in marriage to Sally Balt on January 2, 1988. They made their home in Sioux City and where they raised three children: Teri, Brian and Kevin. Mike worked for the Sioux City Police Department for 20 years. He was a member of Cornerstone World Outreach.
