Performance issues and limitations affecting the involved Officer: This course is focused on understanding officer performance issues where officers may have made decisions under the compression of time while facing the consequences of life and death. This course emphasizes the existence of human factors, limitations, and distortions that occur in the cognitive process and the ever-present video evidence, often used inappropriately against an officer based on a lack of understanding across the board; officers involved, investigators, and decision-makers.

Why are we here? It's time we all speak the same language.

Performance factors related to the officer-involved; the street cop perspective:

Ultimately, exposure to these theories, concepts, and information related to human factors, limitations, and cognitive distortions will enhance officers’ awareness of their own decision-making processes in officer-involved critical incidents. By providing focused knowledge previously only accessible to investigators and specialized units dedicated to the analysis of an officer’s actions; Officers involved in a critical Use-of-Force will now understand and speak the same language. This course is designed to build awareness and develop strong, efficient decision-making and improved reporting protocols for officers working in the intense environment of policing today.
