Those wishing to attend should meet at the funeral by 12:30pm on Monday. Memorials may be made to the family.

Tom Lynch Sr. passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at his home peacefully with family.

Tom was born July 7, 1944, in Davenport, a son of Gilbert Lynch. He was united in marriage to Tempie Edwards on December 8, 1962, in Erie, IL. Together they shared 51 years of irrevocable love for one another and passed that love to their children and grand-children. She preceded him in death on December 24, 2013.

Tom first served his country in the Army, then went on to become a K9 officer with the Davenport Police Department for twenty-five years. He was especially close to his dogs “Blaze” and “Sammy”. After he retired, being the natural public servant he was, he enjoyed driving the school bus with Davenport Schools for fifteen years before retiring once again.

He loved riding his Harley with friends, golfing, fishing, hunting, collecting and shooting guns, enjoying a Jack and Coke with his best friend, Tim Quilty, and hanging out in his garage that he and his son Tommy built together. Above all else, Tom was dedicated to his family. Spending lots of time at their campground in Colona (Tempe’s favorite place) and watching his beautiful family grow. Toward the final stretch of his journey, he enjoyed watching “Love Island” with his daughter Paula and eating ice cream and watching “NCIS” with his daughter Lisa.

If Tom loved you, you knew it. And there was nothing he wouldn’t do to help or protect the people he loved. You might remember him as the “K9 Cop” with the handle bar mustache, but to his family, and everyone else he was a Hero.

Survivors include his children Lisa Fullmer, Paula (Richard) Garnette, Thomas (Mhisho) Lynch II; sister Rose Hatfield all of Davenport; eleven grandchildren; and seventeen great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Tempie, he was preceded in death by his father, and brother Gilbert “Duke” Lynch.
