Glenn W. Hedrick, 90, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 1, 2025, in his home at Grand Haven, Eldridge, surrounded by family.
Visitation will be Friday, June 6, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeWitt. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the church, the Rev. Fr. Stephen Page officiating. Burial following in the church cemetery.
Glenn William Hedrick was born September 10, 1934, in Dubuque, Iowa, to Frank and Mary (Becker) Hedrick. After attending school, he worked at Dubuque Stamping Co., where he met the love of his life, Adel Theis. They were married on November 30, 1957. Glenn later worked in construction doing excavation before finding his calling in law enforcement. He started as police officer with Dubuque P.D. which led to a long-term career as an Iowa State Trooper from 1964 to 1990. The whole family settled in DeWitt in 1966. Adel preceded him in death on January 23, 2024.
Glenn enjoyed 35 years of retirement, during which he enjoyed many hobbies including hunting, fishing, gardening, canning, woodworking, wine making. Glenn attended all his grandchildrens’ sporting events, with camcorder in his hand. Glenn and Adel enjoyed playing cards with friends and going to many dances over the years.
Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Greg and April of DeWitt, son-in-law, Paul Hasenmiller of Bernard; grandchildren, Mike (Christy) Hedrick, Sarah (Austin) Vieselmeyer, Justin (Jennifer) Hasenmiller, Jessica (Jon) Wood, Elizabeth (Drew) Heckart, Kyle (Katelyn) Hasenmiller; 8 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Gail Hasenmiller, grandson, Daniel Hedrick, siblings, Frank (Helen) Hedrick, Evelyn (Frank) Tharp, and Marie Hedrick, and sister-in-law, Jeanette (Jack) Hochberger.
