Larry Michael Coffin, 79, of Waterloo, passed away Sunday, February 15, at UnityPoint Hospital in Waterloo.

He was born July 1, 1946, in Waterloo, the son of Arthur and Bernita Buhman Coffin. He married Barbara Rinker Rogers on February 19, 1979 in New Mexico.

Larry honorably served his county in the United States Air Force. He graduated from Upper Iowa University and worked at the Waterloo Police Department retiring as a Sergeant in 2001 after 32 years of dedicated service.

Larry enjoyed playing golf, taking long motorcycle rides, time spent with family and having coffee with friends.

Survivors include: his wife, Barbara of Waterloo; his daughters Niki (Michael) Poe of Cedar Falls, Angie Coffin of Cedar Falls; son Chad (Karen) Coffin of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and 8 grandchildren; stepchildren, James Brucher of Annandale, Virginia, David (Denise) Brucher of Palo, and Kenneth Brucher of Waterloo; brothers Greg (Joan) Coffin of Cedar Falls, Steve (Brenda) Coffin of Ankeny, Edward (Rosalie) Mulgrew of Las Cruces, N.M; sisters Marilyn Kniss of Ankeny, Beverly (Jim) Anders of Grand Island, Neb, Karen (Terry) Schultz of The Villages, Fla, and Janet (Larry) Padden of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: his parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, February 26 from 4-7 p.m. at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway.

Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Bend Humane Society, UnityPoint Hospice or the Black Hawk County Veterans Affairs.
