Officer Shawn Miller was hit by a car and killed on duty August 3, 2016. He had testified in a court hearing in Dallas County and was riding his personal motorcycle back to West Des Moines. The accident happened at the intersection of Highway 169 and Interstate 80 when a turning car failed to yield and Officer Miller’s motorcycle collided with the passenger side of the car.
