ISPA 2025 ANNUAL CONFERENCE

Plans for the 93^rd Annual ISPA Conference at the Hotel Blackhawk Davenport (200 E. 3rd Street Davenport, Iowa) October 6th – 8^th, 2025 are wrapping up. Local # 2 Davenport members are working hard to create an exceptional conference you will not want to miss.

On Monday the conference will get started with the golf tournament at Palmer Hills Golf Course (2999 Middle RD Bettendorf, IA), shotgun start at 10:00 am. Please make sure to register by September 2, 2025, to guarantee your ¼ zip jacket size. You can download the registration form HERE. Later that evening you can enjoy some delicious food and then test your luck at “Casino Night”. Casino night will be held at the Hotel. It will feature craps, roulette, poker, and blackjack tables. If you are lucky, you could win the grand prize!

Once again, this year the conference will feature multiple educational programs.

PURPLE HEART AWARD NOMINATION

The Iowa State Police Association Purple Heart Award was developed in 2013 for the purpose of honoring extraordinary Iowa peace officers who have been seriously wounded or killed in the line of duty as a result of a combat incident.

The Purple Heart award is granted to any sworn Iowa peace officer who has been seriously, critically, or fatally injured in the performance of law enforcement duty. In addition, this award may be conferred if an injury was averted by the wearing of body armor. This award will be given in all cases resulting in line of duty death, but will otherwise be limited to those cases involving an attack by an assailant or the performance of an act of valor.

The 2025 Purple Heart Award will be presented to seven recipient at the 93rd Annual Iowa State Police Association Conference in Davenport on Tuesday evening, October 7th, 2025.

Legal Defense Fund (LDF)

Unfortunately on Friday July 25, 2025 we were contacted by Stephen Foertsch, who is the plan administrator for the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association (MPPOA) Legal Defense Fund (LDF). He told us their Board of Trustees had decided to stop the joint LDF venture with ISPA. Foertsch said they had recently lost a large number of their Minnesota LDF members and their board felt it was not a good time to start this new program.
